Subject: [SYGC]2006 ASUS Cup Annual Tournament - 10/29/06 (Sun) -- Tournament Results

Dear SYGC Members & Tournament Guests,
It’s great to see so many club members and guests joining 2006 ASUS Cup Annual
Tournament. The weather was very nice and the course also was in perfect condition.
I guess everybody must have a wonderful time playing an exciting game.
Before reporting the tournament result I have to make an apology here. Due to limited
time of calculating every player’s score, two prize titles are incorrect (Diamond Net
Low #3 & Gold Net Low #3). I feel very sorry for not being able to correct it in time.
For the winners who didn’t get the trophies, I’ll put an extra order of the trophies to
make up for you.
And it’s my honor to announce our new SYGC President and Executive Secretary for
next year:
President: George Cheng
Executive Sectary: Eric Ouyang
One more thing I would like to remind all of our members here. Carol will send out
membership renewal notice soon. Please follow her instruction and renew your 2007
NCGA & SYGC membership.
The following is the tournament results in detail. Congratulation to all winners!!

The standings are as followed -

Subject: [SYGC] June Tournament Results - Callippe Preserve (06/18, Sunday)

Dear All,

Again, thanks for everybody's support. I hope you had a great weekend in Callippe.
We're glad to see there are more new guests and several returning members come
back to join us for great fun.

F-Cup captain, Eric Ouyang, shot an easy 85 first time at the course to take the low
gross while our club head, Ivan Ho, shot an impressive (86, net -7) to take the low
net. Yu Chang tried to hole out a par 3, but left with 1" close to the pin. Ivan and
Haoping muscle their balls to the fairway where the course doesn't have the GPS to
measure whose ball is farther.

Here are the results for the June tournament. As you can see, there are lots of awards
given out! Don't worry about buying new golf balls, just come here to play the SYGC
tournament :-) We look forward to seeing you next month.

Best,
~Chester

Dear members and F-cup players,
11:10 (SYGC:MVGC) WE WON !!!
It happened! After a long fight with the best players
from MVGC, we won again! the Friendship Cup is kept
tight and secured in SYGC. Thanks for the team, on top
of the 14 players roster, we still have numerous good
players willing to fight for the club, just that the
spots were taken so quickly, this shows how deep our
field is. Thanks to all!
As you can see, it's a close duel, we have to wait for
the last group to find out. As we talked before, the
handicap system should make the game very close, it
did; a lot relies on the probability. MVGC practiced
more and outlined good strategy attacking each hole;
for us, with the best team spirit, players tried
creatively to bring out all the potentials on the
course. It's impressive to see more than half of our
team wore the SYGC shirt(from last annual)
automatically (I thought it may bother some if we
enforce the dress rule).
5 of the 14 palyers are F-cup rookies compared to
heavy veterans from MVGC, looks like we're risking but
it worked so well. Jerry carried the lowest handicap
guy James, so others can play higher handicappers.
(thank his putting tips which saved my butt couple
times). Tony Huang is a killer from hole 1, he won 2
points with carrying team match alone. Lu Qin, Chester
and Feng Li are facing tough comepetition, Feng Li won
his last hole to win team match and halved his single
match. Feng, you and George won the anchor points for
us. Yi Ma who didn't play this year but winning a
impressive par-3 contest, he scared MVGC that our
non-player is as good as him, Yi is our DH(designate
hitter) next year!
As I may suggest, Brian Chang, one of the elite
players along with Carol, winning so many points in
the F-cup"s", should take the F-cup captain for 2007.
Sorry Captain, I didn't check with you, since it's the
"Dream team" you can't refuse!
Thanks for reading the summary to this point, as
exciting as the F-cup, I encourage players and teams
share your interesting stories in the follow-up
threads!
2006 Captain (retired)
Eric Ouyang

Poppy Ridge Tournament Results -4/30/2006

From: <tony.j.su@gmail.com>

Subject: [SYGC] April tournament - Poppy Ridge

Dear members
30 players enjoyed the toasty spring weather today on the fun Poppy
Ridge course. The weather was just gorgeously sunny. Nice and
sometimes stiff breeze in the morning. Calm in the afternoon.
The winners of the tournament are as followed –
Gross Champion
Brian Chang 85. He could become a single digit player anytime soon.
Gross #2 Danny Tsang 86. Simply another walk in the park.
Gross #3 MingWei Jian 88. Just came back from China and still got
his game going.
Net #1
Long Wang net 70, he also shot a gross 89 to place 4th in gross.
Net #2
Ivan Ho net70, gross 90. Although Ivan tied Long with the same net
score, Long got the first place because of the lower gross score.
Net #3
Frank Fu, net 71, gross 106 (Way to improve. Keep it up.)
Closest to Pin
Chardonnay #3
Samuel Chen – Long's guest.
Chardonnay #7
Tony.
Zinfandel #2
Danny
Zinfandel #7
Feng Li.
Long Drive - Man
MingWei beat out the usual big guns.
Long Drive - Lady
Carol. To rob Carol's thunder a little - new member Tracy Lee's daughter
- Tammy almost gave Carol a run at her money. We may see interesting lady
long drive match in the future. But wait, that means there will be one more
lady out driving the guys. Oops.
The players proved today we can play a speedy tournament round when observing
"Ready Golf" & minimum search time. The later groups finished the round in
about 5 hours. The earlier groups finished well below 5 hours. If the first
group was not slowed down by the group in front of them (players not from our
club), I suspect the first group could have finished the round just slightly
over 4 hours. Bravo to the first group for setting the very respectable pace
and to all other players for playing a smooth round.
Regards,
Tony

Subject: Santa Clara tournament 3/26 results

Dear members,
It was a great day on Sunday to begin our 2006
tournaments. We had a total of 27 players showing up;
there are new and old members, especially some friends
like Wang-Long and Yu Chang from China joining us as a
surprise. Our current best player MingWei is moving to
China, and he managed to get an extra tee-time to say
good-bye to us, we wish him and others in China the
best!
We had a lot of prizes, some of you left early; please
remind me or future tournament hosts to give them to
you.
// close-to-the-pin
#4 Sophie Zhu(I saw it, it was tough for men using
rescue or long iron to hit it as close),
#8 Yu Chang(did you 3-putt within 2 feet?),
#13 Tony Huang(I was there, he beated Brian by 1
foot).
#17 Feng Li(this is tight, changed hands couple times)
// long drive
men: Yu Chang(I know I know it's not your notorious
Cobra, it's your perfect swing).
women: Debrah(Wang Long recruited a shotgun).
//  Flight 1
- gross: Minwei 78 (-2), no surprise here. He'll be
missed, best wishes for him moving to China.
- net 1: Conrad 83 (-2), Got 2 OBs.
- net 2: Wen Lee 86 (0), played first two holes with
17 shots(+8), but finished the back 9 with 30+.
- net 3: Carol Lin 87 (0), easy game, she can
out-drive us easily from lady's tee.
** notables: all of the flight 1 winners shot net 0 or
better, this shows the depth of the SYGC. Tony Huang
and myself each has 2 birdies with (+1) did not help.

enough to get index yet.
// Best courage
Eric Hu, a new member who cut his finger the night
before, finished the round with pain (and nasty blood
on the clubs) and pride, he headed to ER the night,
who was a contender in Flight 3 with 3 straight pars,
I gave him my personal prize.
